Alex Stockwell

Director of Training

Alex Stockwell has spent the past 20 years building a career in the hospitality industry, a journey that began in his hometown of Traverse City, Michigan. His passion for exceptional service and community  engagement started early at the age of 15 in a local ice cream shop. In a region where the summer tourist season was short and the slow winter months were long, providing great service and creating lasting impressions was essential for success. That experience taught him the importance of genuine hospitality, strong customer relationships, and honest connections.

In 2014, Alex joined Ray’s Restaurants as a server, eager to grow within a company that shared his values of quality and service. Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, he advanced through various  roles, eventually earning the position of General Manager for Ray’s at Killer Creek followed by Ray’s in the City. Along the way, he developed a strong understanding of leadership, team development, and the importance of creating memorable dining experiences. Now, he takes pride in mentoring others, instilling in them the same passion for genuine hospitality and high-level performance that has guided his own career.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, making the most of family life. His journey in hospitality is deeply personal – not only did he develop his passion for service at the ice cream shop but also met his wife there when they were both teenagers working their first jobs. Whether exploring new restaurants, traveling, or simply enjoying time together, he values the connections and experiences that make life meaningful.
